On Friday on CBS' The Early Show the former Miss California co-executive director stated that the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) is a hate group. This was in response to her quitting her position because Carrie Prejean was not forced to give back her Miss California title. There was no rebuttal or follow up question about the NOM hate group comment from commentator Julie Chen.
Leon Panetta, current CIA director, came out swinging at Pelosi and her comments that the CIA lied to her about waterboarding. On Friday CBS and NBC made no mention of his comments. Only ABC found it newsworthy enough to report on. That being said it took all three networks 3 weeks to finally report on the Pelosi shifting stories on her briefing. ABC spent a whole 28 seconds on Good Morning America reporting on it showing the importance of the story. Interestingly that was the same amount of time they spent on a report about a the rescue of a kangaroo caught in deep water off an Australian beach.
On Friday's inside Washington Evan Thomas, talking about the Pelosi controversy insisted “it doesn't” matter, maintaining “this is all noise, this is all noise.” NPR's Nina Totenberg declared “I don't think it matters, except that it is a diversion that is encouraged by former Bush people who don't want to have this conversation.”
Watch and see how the speech at Notre Dame by Obama is presented by the media. How much coverage have you seen about the latest Gallup Poll showing more Americans are Pro Life than Pro Abortion. News is not what it use to be.

Dems looking for money anywhere
The Senate Finance Committee has begun looking for more money. Proposals range from a higher tax on cigarettes, Pepsi and booze to taxing health savings accounts and your health benefits. It's clear nothing is safe. So what could be next? Where could big $$ lie?
I know this isn't new but it's been mentioned that government is trying hard to find a way into our 401 K's and retirement accounts. Perhaps offering a "safe" alternative to the risky stock market. Loan them your money and they will pay you 3% guaranteed interest!! How about tapping into your home equity for the government? Taxing the internet will be just too hard to resist, it's only a matter of time. Increasing taxes for gas, cell phone use, cable services and anything else people won't want to give up.
Isn't this a tax on the Dems constituents? Don't more poor people (Dem voters) use cigs, and alcohol and would have a tougher time paying a higher bill for gas or their cell phone. Will these people ever wise up?

Obama at ASU
Perhaps it was fitting that the Pres. came to the top party school in the US. An institution that is more focused on fun, pop culture and political correctness than actual academics.
Obama was his inspirational self. Telling graduates that they can do anything and challenging them to "step up". He talked about the environment of greed and irresponsibility. He made the call for sacrifice and told the audience that hard choices would need to be made. He stressed that the new job seekers should consider forgoing the corner office for jobs that will "benefit" society. Things such as inner city work and volunteerism. He reminded graduates that they are beginning their careers in troubled times. All in all a very nice speech.
Pondering what the President had said I'm a little bewildered. His call for giving back to society instead of moving up the ladder is nice in theory but if we all do volunteer work who will have the money to give to the needy? If we forgo the million dollar companies where will government get their money to waste? It's a nice thought but how many millions have Bill Gates and Warren Buffet given to charities? Would they have been as beneficial to society if they had served in a soup kitchen for the last 50 years?
My next problem is Obama's comment about greed and irresponsibility. This coming from a guy who throws parties each week for his supporters. Who's wife spends $540 on tennis shoes and makes over a million dollars a year. The projected deficit by his administration is higher than all the formers presidents combined. I think he needs to look in the mirror and at his party to see irresponsibility. Look up irresponsibility in the dictionary and you'll see a picture of a politician.
And then he tells graduates to step up. This from a President who is trying to nationalize the nation. Who is telling people it isn't their fault and we (the government) are here to bail you out. I believe his message to his supporters is vote for me and I can take care of all your needs. Hardly a message to step up.
Once again Obama has shown a skillful manipulation of the press and the people who follow it. One one hand he delivers a message of boot strap economics and sacrifice and on the other he enacts policies that are completely the opposite of his rhetoric. Are the American people really that stupid?

Maybe it's my age or lack of tech knowledge but I do not get twitter. Not only do I not get it but I think it's ridiculous. The Mafia would be proud
A man that owns a brewery also likes to bet on the horses. He likes to pick his horses but will listen to his bookie once in awhile. His bookie pressured him to bet some on long shots or he wouldn’t take any more of his bets. Sometimes he does ok but other times he loses big time. During one such period of loss, his bookie came to him offering to loan him some money to over his bad bets.
The brew master knew that it wasn’t wide to take loans from bookies. If you failed to pay off on time, they broke your legs. When he informed his bookie that he would borrow the money from his uncle to pay off the bets, the bookie said that he better borrow enough to pay for any damages that might occur at the brewery. The bookie then broke the windows out of the front of the building.
Realizing that the bookie had him by the short hairs, the brew master borrowed the money from the bookie. He stopped betting the horses and soon his cash flow turned around. He thought to himself, now I can pay the bookie off and get him out of my hair. The bookie had other ideas. He told the brew master he had better keep the money, as you never know when you might need it for unexpected damages. Remember the broken windows?
The bookie said that the loan made him a partner in the brewery. Much to the brew master’s dismay there wasn’t anything that he could do. A few weeks later, the bookie returned to say that with the interest now due, he was majority shareholder of the brewery. Don’t worry, the brew master was told, he still had a job, for now anyway.
What the brew master didn’t know was that the bookie had cut the same arrangement with all of the other large breweries. Now the bookie controlled of how much beer was brewed, what style of beer was going to be brewed and who was going to be able to buy it and at what inflated price. Any tavern that didn’t go along with the bookie’s game plan would soon find himself high and dry.
This may be a fairy tale but it sounds an awful lot like what is happening with the national banks. First it was a bail out loan with little or no strings attached. When banks said that they didn’t need the money they were forced to take it. When they tried to pay it back they were discouraged. Little to on strings went to owning stock with no voting rights to becoming heavy hitters in the corporation with voting rights.
Now banks that were previously OK are in trouble because they have been given a "stress test". The test requires them to add billions dollars to their assets. They were given thirty days. Where do you think that they are going to be getting those billion of dollars in thirty days? That’s right, from the bookie, I mean the government. Once they take the money the stock grab will start again and the power to make loans will be in the hands of Washington bureaucrats.

Hawaii Lawmakers Pass Bill to Create 'Islam Day'
Isn't this an issue of seperation of church and state? Or does that only apply to Christianity. Do we have a Christian day...a Catholic day...a Jewish day? We all have our religious holidays...but the islamists do to.

President Obama makes Bill Clinton’s missing FBI files and Richard Nixon’s enemies’ list look like pre-school playground antics. Never has so few demonized so many in such a short time. You have to go back to Nazi Germany during the 1930s, the Bolshevik revolution in Russia during 1917, or the French Revolution of 1789.
In all three of the examples, those in power trampled on the rights of the individual. Not only were there a great loss of freedom, the loss of life by innocent people was in the tens and hundreds of thousands.
Each of these governments wanted to rebuild the nation into the image that they believed that it should be. The saying is if you forget history, you are bound to repeat it. Are we on that path now?

EPA details renewable fuel strategy, reaching 36 billion gallons by 2012
Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) added some details to its strategy for increasing the supply of renewable fuels, mandated by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.
The EPA said that the supply of renewable fuels is planned to reach 36 billion gallons by 2022 and is expected to reduce the country’s dependence of foreign oil by more than 297 million barrels a year. By 2022, the strategy is also expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 160 million tons a year.
According to the proposal released today, the annual renewable fuel supply of 2002 would include 16 billion gallons of cellulosic biofuels, 15 billion gallons of conventional biofuels, and 4 billion gallons of advanced biofuels 1 billion gallons of biomass-based diesel.
“As we work towards energy independence, using more homegrown biofuels reduces our vulnerability to oil price spikes that everyone feels at the pump,” EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson said. “Energy independence also puts billions of dollars back into our economy, creates green jobs, and protects the planet from climate change in the bargain.”
To achieve the volume requirements, the EPA said it will calculate a percentage-based standard that refiners, importers and blenders of gasoline and diesel must ensure is used in transportation fuel. For the first time, some renewable fuels must achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions compared to the gasoline and diesel fuels they displace. Refiners must meet the requirements to receive credit toward meeting the new standards, the EPA said.
The proposed thresholds for new categories include 20% less greenhouse gas emissions for renewable fuels produced from new facilities, 50% less for biomass-based diesel and advanced biofuels, and 60% less for cellulosic biofuels, the EPA said.

Using phony ID is not ID theft?
The Supreme Court ruled Monday that an illegal alien could not be charged with identity theft because he did not know the numbers were stolen. Apparently if the numbers are made up it is not theft.

Obama Swagga
The hypocrisy of the press never fails to amaze me. Bush was called "cocky" and had a "cowboy mentality". When he donned the flight suit he was torn apart for being arrogant and using the military as a campaign prop. At one press conference he was asked about his swagger and did that put off some people. He responded that in Texas they call that walking.
Now TJ Holmes of CNN in talking to a panel of African Americans mentions Obama's swagga. Later the piece is rerun and CNN anchor Kyra Phillips gushes about his swagga and how you have to be a black guy to be able to pull it off. So Bush swagger is bad but Obama swagga is good.
Bush fumbles over words and is an idiot and Obama fumbles with a teleprompter and he's a genius. Bush needed Chaney for gravitas but Obama's picking of Biden was excellent. Bush's press conferences were wars and Obama's is a love fest. He gets the question "What has most enchanted you in your first 100 days".

ABC news posts names and photos of architects of CIA "torture" techniques
I don't know why I continue to be amazed by the media...but I have say this is incredible. ABC news posted the photos and names of two retired military psychologists who were apparently behind the CIA techniques. I don't care whether or not you think waterboarding is torture or if putting a bug in a box with a terrorist is torture...but what the hell are you doing posting names and photos of the people behind it? Wasn't the media furious with the Bush administration for outing Valerie Plame? They were going after the heads of Cheney and Rove like nothing. But now it's ok for the media to out these two men who were serving their country? I am so sick and tired of this crap. What's it going to take for the news media to change? Conservatives have Fox...liberals have ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC...and so on. I know the conservatives own talk radio but I worry about the lesser informed public who watch the local news at night.
At what point does the media have to be held accountable? If something happens to these two men, can ABC be held liable? What's next, outing the names of people in the witness protection program? Shame on you ABC and shame on the morons posting on their site that nothing was accomplished by these "torture" techniques. Freaking idiots.

GOP and inclusion
During the primaries were constantly told by the powers that be (except Rush) that we needed to put aside our wants and desires for a true conservative and elect someone that would appeal to the masses. We were told that if we elected a moderate Republican or RINO we would then be able to hold their feet to the fire and get the conservative agenda moving. We were told that the American people didn't want conservatism. The GOP response was John McCain. Many of us held our noses as we voted because of his stance on immigration, global warming and off shore drilling among others.
If we had elected a Huckabee or Romney would we have lost any worse? Now the culmination of voting for a liberal Republican has come to pass with Benedict Arlen. Him and Olympia Snow among a few others continue to call themselves Republicans but often vote like Democrats. Do we need them in the party? Doesn't Spectors defection show that when push comes to shove a liberal Republican will do what's best for him and not the party.
Being inclusive does not mean having no standards. It means standing by those standards and articulating to the masses why it is in their best interest to vote Republican. Instill the feelings of opportunity, loyalty, honesty and the American dream. This resonates with all races and genders. Inclusive does not mean looking the other way on higher taxes or abortion. It means telling the blacks that more of their babies are killed through abortion than any other race. It means explaining to the Hispanics that higher taxes means fewer jobs and less opportunity for their kids. We need another Newt revolution and quit lowering our standards to please some RINO or news outlet.
It may take time to get the message out but I for one am tired of bending over to try to please someone who isn't going to vote Republican anyway. Stick to your convictions and stand up for conservatism. If you don't who will?

In the event of an accident, modern automobiles can generate important data any time the antilock braking system (ABS) and airbags are activated. Anyone who has been in an accident that has a black box that shows that you weren’t at fault will sing the praises of the technology that got them off the hook.
Consider this, you go in to purchase insurance that is required by the state. The insurance company tells you to pull your car into the garage so they can attach your car to their computer to examine your driving habits. Your black box has GPS that tells their computer where you were and what the posted speed limit is. Then it tells them what you were driving, did you make jackrabbit starts or last minute stops. When you stopped, did you come to a complete stop or coast through the stop sign? Building a master race has been attempted in the past and there is always a chance that it will be tried again in the future. Do any of these issues cause you concern about your future or the future of your children, or are they "black helicopters" to you?

In the event of an accident, modern automobiles can generate important data any time the antilock braking system (ABS) and airbags are activated. Various sensors distributed throughout the vehicle generate these data, which includes detailed braking profiles of the ABS system, time of airbag deployment, engine performance details such as RPMs, the state of the transmission, etc. The data are continuously stored into an on-board computer, much like the black boxes used by the airline industry. Successfully storing and later retrieving data can be extremely valuable in the event that criminal charges or lawsuits follow.

White House causes terror scare in NYC...
"A jumbo jet being chased by a F-16 fighter jets buzzed Lower Manhattan this morning, panicking New Yorkers, many of whom were forced to evacuate their office buildings.
It was not a terrorist attack, however, but a photo opportunity for Air Force One, sources told the Post. "

Seems like a pretty stupid move to make. Not placing the blame on Obama, sounds more like a local communication problem, but why pick the site of a terroist attack to stage this photo op?

Li-Ion battery
One of the biggest problems in developing hybrid cars is the pesky lithium ion battery. The technical problems associated with the Li-Ion battery have plagued manufacturers almost forever - whether it's vendors selling notebooks or car companies attempting to green the planet.
Fuel cells held out a lot of promise but the hype surrounding these cunning devices has clouded the fact that they're not really that viable for many applications.
Even mighty chip firm Intel has got all hot and bothered about Li-Ion batteries and fuel cells from time to time.
Now Hitachi - motto Inspire the Next - has come up with an idea which may turn the Li-Ion battery into a real cool cat.
According to Nikkei, Hitachi has created a Li-Ion battery with an output per kilogram of 4,500 watts. That's 70 percent more than the batteries it's currently churning out, and 50 percent more than a battery it will mass manufacture next year.
When can we expect to see this new and improved Li-Ion? Sometime after 2010, Hitachi promises.
The other good thing is that the battery will last 10 years, so will keep pace with the anticipated life of a hybrid car.

Over reaction?
I posted a blog about the comments of Rosenberg and how he wouldn't be surprised to see an attack on the US in the next few years. We now see the flu scare in Mexico and some suggesting a pandemic. Is it an over reaction to start thinking about stock piling a years worth of dehydrated food just in case?
