Are we all equal?

As a follower of Christ I would have to say yes ( even though I have my doubts about the brains of many). As a believer we learn that we all came from one Man and are made in His image. We each have different gifts and abilities but no gift is greater than another.

What I find interesting is those that say yes but don't believe in a Creator. If you believe in evolution how can we be equal? In all species some are more intelligent or advanced. The more physically gifted males dominate the others in the pack. If man evolved from "stuff" wouldn't there be a hierarchy or class system? Wouldn't the strongest rule football or the tallest rule basketball? Wouldn't the smartest lead our country (we know that doesn't happen)? Some would have evolved more than others and thus be superior. And if we were just more advanced animals wouldn't we follow the survival of the fittest theory? Why do we care about the homeless or elderly? Evolution would lead us to get rid of the weak. God tells us to take care of them. It seems those who push the "We are all equal" the hardest are the same ones that deny there is a God. I find those views polar opposites.

  1. Forgive me for getting into the pulpit.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the Glory of God:

In God’s eyes, man in his natural state, the state that he was born into, there is no difference.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

We like to look at the other guy or gal and say, I’m not so bad, at least I didn’t do whet they did. God on the other hand says that even “one offense” makes you just as guilty as everyone else.

Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.

In several places God condemns looking upon the outward appearance and giving favor to someone because they are rich or good looking.

There are many gifts and while no gift may be more important than any other, there are different degrees of the gist that you have.

2 Kings 2:9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

Hebrews 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the Word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Once a person is born again, he has his gift(s) but he needs to grown from a baby to an adult Christian. Too many want to stay on the milk of the Word and not grow up.

On the secular side it is obvious that were are all physically or mentally equal. The closer we grown to God the further away we are from “might makes right” and survival of the fittest.

“Evolution would lead us to get rid of the weak.” That is also the words of the most liberal political thought. Down through the ages as man walked away from God, the idea of getting rid of the weak has killed millions and millions of people. Germany during the 30’s and 40’s decided who the weak were and how they would die. Now the US government wants to have the same power to tell old and sick people to go to “end of life” sessions to be told to die and get out of the way.

  2. I know this may a little off topic but what amazes me is the people who think Christianity is a cult or that the U.S. is not a Christian nation. I admit that I never used to think much of it but after study I don't see how anyone can say these things.

If we are not a Christian nation why does the Pres. take his oath on a Bible? Why does our money say "In God We Trust"? Why were most of the best known Ivy Leagues colleges started as Christian colleges and still have the Christian inscriptions on their buildings?

Do people realize all the sayings we use today that are from scripture? Things like, You Reap what You Sow, Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child, Faith can Move Mountains and Laughter is the Best Medicine among others. How about the stories we tell to make a point like The Prodigal Son, David and Goliath and Samson. How about terms like Armaggedon or Revelation. How about the most popular "lucky" number is 7 (which has great significance in Scripture).

How about praying or blessing the food? I know non believers that do this but who or what are they praying to?

If Christianity was just a cult or foolish belief would so many people have put their lives on the line for it? Would the most powerful country ever have been based on it? Would the language and stories still be told today and still be relevant? I don't think so. There is more to this Bible stuff than people want to admit and all it would take is a little time spent researching to discover that there is more to this world and our lives than many care to admit. Now I'll quit the preaching.
