Is Rush bad for the GOP?

Drudge Headline: White House plots Limbaugh Coverage.
James Carville says he wants Rush to keep talking.
RNC head Steele says Rush's rhetoric is "incendiary and ugly."

So is Rush hurting the GOP? The majority of conservatives would say NO. Is Rush good for the liberal conservatives, NO. Will Rush scare away those who have no convictions. YES. Is the GOP a party that has it's values based on polling data or are it's values based on moral convictions which don't change over time?

The sad part of all this is: The Democrats and media are more afraid of a college drop out talk show host than GOP members of Congress. I think this says more about the state of the GOP than it does about Rush. Rush has the ability the inspire us. He himself is a success story. He is living the American dream and articulates the thoughts and beliefs of millions. Admittedly he has had some personal issues but who hasn't? Certainly not those bad mouthing him.

When Rush says he hopes the Obama plan fails anyone with half a brain knows what he is talking about. Obama's restructuring of America into a socialist state could possibly help in the short term but long run it is devastating. Allowing Government to tell us where our kids can go to school, what doctor we can see and how much money we can make is not the American dream our ancestors worked and died for. Once we allow Government to intrude into our lives we can't get them out. Those looking for quick solutions are narrow minded and selfish. They don't want to pay the price for their and governments mistakes. They are taking the handouts and leaving their kids and grand kids to pay the bill. Buy now and pay later!

How is Rush's statement any different then Reid's and Pelosi's about we support the troops but not the war? Rush supports America just not the direction it's heading. Reid called President Bush and idiot. It amazes me how blind society is. Give them what they want and they are kept fat, dumb and happy. It's like the boiling frog story.

So is Rush bad for the GOP? Not the GOP I want! I'm willing to lose a few battles to win the war. It may not always be easy, it may not be pretty but it's what is right for our future and our kids future. If I have to give up my convictions to make my life easier than I become a selfish, despicable human being who is just wasting oxygen and taking up space. I was born to be better than that.

  1. No, Rush is not bad for the GOP...the GOP just needs to get back to its roots.

I am getting so tired of hearing the line "Rush wants Obama to fail...do you agree with that?" I saw Steele (RNC Chairman) on the Today show this morning and he dodged that question at least 3 times. Why do you need to dodge that question? As posted above "anyone with half a brain know what he is talking about" when it comes to Rush talking about Obama failing. How can any conservative hope Obama acheives on his policies of solcialsim?

When will the GOP stand up and say that? Why can't Steele answer the freaking question? We're not libs...we don't have to dodge questions. Say what's in your heart GOP and you'll get somewhere.

  2. Yes...
    - I'm not a rush fan.
    - He does not speak for me.
    - He’s an Entertainer and nothing else
    - Not every Republican is a 100% conservative. All Republicans need to understated that.

Steele is the leader of the RNC. The RNC is made up of many different sub parties/groups. (In my little world) Rush-groupies are just a small part of that. The RNC needs look at all sub parties, or they will never win elections again.

  3. Hey Pook, I've always wanted to ask what it is that bugs people about Rush? What views don't you agree with?

  4. I think he is too far right,(no middle ground) it his way or the high way. He talks down to everyone like we can think for our selves.
I don't think he is a bad guy, I just don't think he speaks for the whole RNC. He's an amazing radio host however, I think Mike Moore is an amazing film maker. Just because I think someone has an amazing talent at telling a story, doesn't mean I agree with what they are saying. I would pick Glenn Beck over 'Rush' and 'Hannity'.

  5. Rush is not far too right. It’s just unfortunate the right has moved far to left these days. Rush speaks for a huge majority of the population. That is why his show is the largest in the history of Radio Broadcasting. Funny how Liberal radio never works! Must be money.

To show you his impact, the President of the United States has targeted him and is responding to his show. I think we have more pressing issues than what a Radio show is saying, or if we should have a College football playoff. But without a teleprompter, what else can Obama say.

Rush is attempting to move the Republican Party in the direction of their roots. Back to a Conservative Agenda and not one that is pandering to the Liberal Media.

While I like Glenn Becks comedy and his views, he is a bit too “conspiracy theory” for my taste.

  6. I'll give you the conspiracy theory part on Glenn, but rush is too far right. If the Republican Party is ever going to win again they need to stop looking like an old white man party. Younger voters are moving more and more left and republicans are going to keep losing ground.

  7. It seems when someone doesn't like Rush they never give specifics. They say he's too far right or too fat or too rich. What view don't you like of his? Smaller government, lower taxes, personal responsibility?

  10. Social Conservative?

For stem cell research, for gay marriage, for more welfare programs, for leagalizing pot and for carbon credits. If that's conservative I would hate to see the liberal side.

It looks like someone has no idea what they believe. What are your core convictions that you won't give in on?

  11. "Social Conservative" okay that was a bad one! Not sure why I said that.

My core convictions: Live well and help my fellow man. With out hurting myself. Leave this world and man better off for everyone not just my family.

Gay marriage: Straight people have a above 50% divorce rate. We have no right stopping others from getting marriage if we can stay married our selves.

Stem cell research: I believe the human souls is give to a new life when the a heart beat starts, and not before.(Period)

More welfare programs: Better run programs. I do believe people we both know have been on a welfare program. (unemployment benefits) The programs we have work, they just need to work better. No one is the USA should be on the streets, and hungry.

Legalizing pot: You talk about personal responsibility. Then let's have personal responsibility . If someone wants to kill their brain cells with pot then that is a personal choose. Why would you care what someone does to their own body?

carbon credits: I'm open mined about this? Some of the ideas that are floating around would hurt us, and some not so much. Some (not all) companies will never clean up since the CEO doesn't want to hurt his 20 million dollar a year bonus. So I'm not for, or against it right now. It's like I said... I would need to see the final draft and the price per metric ton on the CO2.
Also if we did this carbon credits idea then we would need to tax imports from countries that don't do this. (To be fair)

I'm not a sheep, and I see everything in color. (not black & white) That is why I'm on both side of the line.

  12. This brings up a good question. What do you think is the role of Government?

  13. Maybe we need a blog on convictions but living well and helping others is not a conviction. It's a result of hopefully the right convictions.

  14. What do you think is the role of Government?

That's a big question. Government does a lot of good things, and a lot of bad things. Government is in place to protect us, even from ourselves sometimes. Government didn't protect us from cheats on wall street, & look at the the teachers, Police, Firefighters, and Joe blow's that is paying the price in their 401k, 401b, and so on. I don't think Government can ever protect us 100% but they can make the playing field more fair, so that the average Joe has a chance at a good/healthy life. I just have a different point of view how they should do that then you.
