Republicans continue to put foot in mouth. From the Houston Chronicle "A North Texas legislator during House testimony on voter identification legislation said Asian-descent voters should adopt names that are “easier for Americans to deal with.” State Rep Betty Brown suggested that Asian-Americans should find a way to make their names more accessible.
“Rather than everyone here having to learn Chinese — I understand it’s a rather difficult language — do you think that it would behoove you and your citizens to adopt a name that we could deal with more readily here?” Brown said.
Racist or not, you decide.

If you study your history, you will see that many immagrants who enetered through Ellis Island had their names changed so that they could be spelled and pronounced in English.
ReplyDeleteJust a little history for you.
I wouldn't say racist...stupid to say in this PC era maybe...but not racist.
ReplyDeleteAgree... Both side say stupid things. A politician should be smart enough to know what no to say. But we not that lucky most of the time.
